Recently CNN, has broadcast a documentary about the longevity that distinguishes the inhabitants of the north-east of Sardinia. Under the eye of the cameras, we can see the studies regarding the psychological markers of successful aging in Sardinia led by the research team of the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, Philosophy of the University of Cagliari.
From the studies did in the Blue Zone of Sardinia, specifically the territory between the Ogliastra and the Barbagia where there is a high number of centenarians, it has emerged that the elderly are considered a resource by their community, because they are depositaries of local knowledge and traditions and as such they are still productive and socially involved in several activities.
