Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG)

A family-shaped tourism company with South Tyrolean roots and European hospitality expertise

Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group AG (FMTG) is one of Europe’s leading privately owned tourism companies. Across six countries, the group develops, operates, and supports tourism projects – ranging from hotel development and operations to investment and advisory services.

Several specialised business units combine their expertise under the umbrella of FMTG. Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences currently operates 27 four- and five-star hotels as well as three apartment complexes in selected destinations across Europe. The portfolio is complemented by FMTG Camping with high-quality campsites, the development and project company FMTG Development, the investment platform FMTG Invest, and the internationally active tourism consultancy Michaeler & Partner.

Starting from 2026, the group has also taken over the operational management of Arbatax Park Resort by Falkensteiner: a large resort set within over 60 hectares of untouched nature, located in a unique natural reserve and overlooking the Ogliastra Sea. Guests can enjoy a complete range of facilities — including beaches and coves, a 2,000 sqm wellness center, numerous pools, and activities for all ages — in a setting that combines nature, relaxation, fun, and high-quality services.

How it all began… In 1957, Maria and Josef Fakensteiner opened a guesthouse in Casteldarne, South Tyrol

The company’s roots go back more than six decades. What began as a small guesthouse with seven beds gradually evolved into an international tourism group. This origin continues to shape the company’s approach today: long-term thinking, entrepreneurial responsibility, and a clear understanding of how high-quality tourism experiences are created.

Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences are located in selected holiday regions across Europe – along the coasts of Italy and Croatia, in the Alps of Austria and South Tyrol, as well as by lakes such as Lake Wörthersee and Lake Garda. Each property is developed on the basis of a clearly defined concept that connects architecture, location, and target audience.

The result is places with a distinct identity that reflect regional characteristics while maintaining the brand’s high standards of quality. Reliable standards, thoughtful concepts, and continuous development form the foundation for experiences that bring guests back time and again.

In short: places to arrive, recharge, and enjoy.

Or, as Falkensteiner calls it: Welcome Home.
